China ANUFOOD China 2023 concluded successfully, presenting a more diverse culinary feast for people in F&B industry globally

Between 10-12 May, Southern China’s leading food & beverage trade fair welcomed 503 exhibitors from over 30 countries and regions, and 25,703 trade visitors from home and abroad to discover new business opportunities and drive emerging market trends.

Co-organised by Koelnmesse, China Chamber of Commerce of I/E Foodstuffs, Native Produce and Animal By-products (CFNA) and the Shenzhen Retail Business Association and powered by the world's leading trade fair Anuga in Cologne, Germany, ANUFOOD China 2023 was successfully held from 10-12 May in Shenzhen, China. ANUFOOD China 2023 welcomed 25,703 trade visitors, spanned 35,000 sqm and featured 503 exhibitors from nearly 30 countries and regions all over the world, featuring a collection of products under its roof of the entire F&B industry chain, including sweets & snacks, meat, dairy products, fine food, seafood & frozen food, plant-based & healthy food, coffee & tea, drinks (alcohol & non-alcohol), F&B technology and catering services & technology. SIGEP China was held in parallel as the satellite fair of SIGEP – Europe's largest bakery and coffee industry event - in China this year. ANUFOOD China 2023 presented a diverse culinary feast for people from all over the world in F&B industry in South China and the Greater Bay Area.

ANUFOOD China 2023 has significantly improved both at the local and international level of pavilions. Supported by the global resources of the Anuga, as well as embassies, consulates and trade associations worldwide, ANUFOOD China 2023 greeted the heartening re-enter of international pavilions from Brazil, Poland, Turkey, the Czech Republic, Uruguay, Malaysia, etc. Not to be outdone, hundreds of quality Chinese brands from Shandong, Zhejiang, Hebei, Quzhou, Jiangmen were also participating under their respective regional pavilions. F&B companies and brands all over the world take Southern China and the Greater Bay Area as their entry points, regarding ANUFOOD China as the preferred platform to fully explore the Chinese F&B market.

My overall impression of ANUFOOD China is fairly good, the on-site is very informative and I saw the categories I am looking for.”

During the three-day show, a number of exciting events were held, including professional conference sessions, culinary competitions, customised F&B tasting experiences, whisky tasting and business matching activities, covering hot topics of the entire industry, and providing a more diversified showcase and interactive experience.

Seven professional conferences and forums were held in conjunction with this year's exhibition, namely Global Meat Summit 2023, the 2nd Global Imported Food Retail Market Trends Forum, the 2023 International Drinking Culture & New Dynamics Summit – Whisky and Baijiu China Consumption Trends Forum, the 2023 International Drinking Culture & New Dynamics Summit – China Alcohol Market Channel Ecological Innovation Forum, Innovative Development, Healthy Future – “Future Food” Focused Research and Development Trends Forum 2023, forum of Foods for Plant-based Diets: "A coexistence of challenge and Innovation", and National Famous New Animal Welfare Specialty Development Forum. The forums invited authoritative experts from various fields of the industry to discuss the hot topics and cutting-edge trends in various segments, providing reference and learning for the common development and exploration of new opportunities for the industry and enterprises.

In addition, the organisers have joined hands with the China Cuisine Association to create the World Chinese Culinary Chef Challenge, inviting chefs from 12 cities to compete culinary skills on-site and exchange food culture, further enhancing the reputation and influence of Chinese food in the world. Sichuan, Shanghai and Hong Kong teams won the first, second and third places respectively after an inspiring competition. The newly upgraded Foodie Space was a themed tasting event, featuring master chefs for live cooking demonstrations with premium Uruguayan beef selected by INAC on-site. F&B brands, industry distributors, caterers and other multi-channel buyers tasted the delicacy, exchanged business, and experienced the charm of ingredients "from origin to table". The newly launched AFC Whisky & Spirit World brought together global whisky and other spirits brands, with world-renowned master mixologists and the "godfather" of Chinese classic cocktails, KIN SAN, presenting a diverse range of tastings and masterclasses for the industry.

To fulfil the procurement and supply matching needs of exhibitors and trade buyers, six multiple thematic matching sessions were held on-site, including special sessions on bakery and pastry procurement for HORECA channels, key buyers in distribution channels, retail channel such as Vanguard, coffee and tea beverage channels, as well as top buyers from hotels and restaurants, etc. The business match making zone successfully conducted nearly 100 one-to-one meetings with professional buyers, significantly increasing the success rate of trade cooperation between exhibitors and professional buyers.

With two years of market cultivation in Shenzhen, receiving dynamic growth and enthusiasm of the food and beverage industry in Southern China, ANUFOOD China is poised to take one step forward and bring Anuga - the world's leading food and beverage trade fair closer to the Chinese market. Starting from 2024, ANUFOOD China will be officially rebranding under Anuga's global strategy, with the new image - Anuga Select China.
