Countdown to bigger, activity-packed ANUFOOD China 2016 for North China’s food industry

The food industry in North China is abuzz with activity as it prepares for its participation in the upcoming third edition of ANUFOOD China – powered by Anuga – the largest and most influential event of its kind in the region - to be held from November 16-18 at the New China International Exhibition Center in Beijing. With 20 more days to go, organizers China Chamber of Commerce of Foodstuffs and Native Produce (CFNA) and Koelnmesse are all geared up for new surprises and experience for all.

Adding more excitement to the event is the hosting of a slew of activities, including the 5th China International Catering & Food Expo as well as the Chinese World Cuisine Championship 2016 by the China Cuisine Association (CCA), strategic partner of ANUFOOD China.

This year’s display area will grow by nearly 23 percent, to reach 27,000 square meters compared with last year, and take up more than 33,000 square meters in total when combined with supporting activities. Over 700 exhibitors are expected. In addition to featuring imported products of strong growth momentum in China, such as dairy and meat products, snack foods and confectionery, seafood, instant food, condiments, catering services, alcohol and fruit juice, vending machines and baby food will also make their debut at the event.
Overseas exhibitors hailing from more than 36 countries and regions with the likes of Germany, Spain, Korea, Japan, Argentina, New Zealand, Poland and Turkey are among some of the countries that have received strong support by their respective national food promotion agencies.

As the first partner country of ANUFOOD China, Poland has taken up an unprecedented area of more than 300sqm in booth space and boasts the largest contingent of exhibitors the country has ever led to such events in China.
On the domestic front, pavilions from the Chinese provinces of Shandong, Hebei and Zhejiang are set to further expand the display of traditional food. Renowned brands including Alibaba’s e-commerce platform 1688, JD.com, Unilever, Electrolux and Metro will also participate in ANUFOOD China for first time in various formats.

Importers, retailers and F&B establishments from third- and fourth-tier cities in China will be targeted to help small and medium enterprises from the areas to develop their food importing business as well as discover emerging distribution channels with unique regional characteristics, such as convenience stores, pantry and canteen of corporate head quarters, canteen of international hospitals and schools, cinemas and theaters, and airlines.

A suite of tailored activities will cater to the different needs of participants from both the domestic as well as international markets. One such service is the pre-event business matching which holds regular forum sessions since March this year at various embassies for members of the Taobao.com Imported Food e-Tailers Union to deepen their understanding of development trends of food products abroad. The partnership with 1688’s new business Aliharbour also sees imported food being promoted on the platform allowing channel distributors to gain firsthand knowledge of the exhibits before the show.

In conjunction with CCA, a VIP Dining Experience Zone will be established targeting F&B channels, such as the hospitality sector as well as canteens for organizations, hospitals and schools in North China. Featuring a simulated canteen and a hotel catering establishment respectively, the feature zone aims to present the products in a refreshing format with the support of industry giants Unilever, Metro and Electrolux. Invited guests can observe food preparation process and taste the dishes, while interacting with suppliers.

Besides that, conferences, business matching and culinary competitions will be enhanced in scale and content innovation. Organized by CFNA, the China International Meat Conference and the China International Dairy Industry Conference and Imported Food Sub-forum will be held during the exhibition gathering key food promotion agency representatives to share the latest industry trends and engage in in-depth exchange on channel development.

On top of hosting the China Cuisine Association & Professional Committees Meeting, CCA will also collaborate with Unilever on a powerful food safety summit – a hot topic in China. Over 40 heavyweight speakers with 1,500 delegates are expected to participate in more than 60 hours of conference activities over the first two days of the trade fair.

e-Commerce platform representatives will also conduct interactive sessions for overseas food enterprises to unravel the mystery of China's success in the rapid development of e-commerce channel and offer advice on how to leverage it.
